Opaque Soap Bases
Opaque Soap Bases are made in the same way as Clear bases except that they have a whitening agent added to them - in all cases this is Titanium Dioxide.
We stock Opaque Melt and Pour soap bases from two of the major British Soap Manufacturers - the Claranol range from Kays of Ramsbottom and the Crystal range from the Stephenson Group.
The Claranol Opaque is an off white colour whereas the Crystal White is a pure white colour and ideal for when you need a white soap and are not looking to add colour.
When adding any colour to Opaque soap bases, you will produce a pastel effect. Think about swirling colours throughout the soap - the creative possibilities are endless.
Also bear in mind that the titanium dioxide is dispersed throughout the soap base rather than dissolved in it. This means it can separate out if the soap base is too hot and thin when you pour it into the mould so think about melting it to a lower temperature to avoid this. |
