Sodium Hydroxide, often referred to as Lye or Caustic Soda is one of the core ingredients used for Cold Process soap making.

When you are using it for Cold Process soap making,  remember to always add the Sodium Hydroxide to the water and never the other way round.  It is often mentioned to not use hard water for Cold Process soap making and so why not consider using Distilled Water which is readily available in DIY shops or Car Spares Shops.

This is an update of my previous review. The new batch of Sodium Hydroxide disolves nicely without leaving behind grains which you wont want in your soap. Now a brilliant reliable product.

The product doesn't always dissolve properly in the water and leaves small grains which you don't want in your soap. I use a small sieve lined with a small square of muslin, usually used for jam. This keeps the undissolved grains getting in my soap. It may mean you are supper fatting a little higher than expected but its better than having undissolved caustic soda in your soap. Perhaps flakes might work better.
